John Mang

John is a seasoned leader in the consumer packaged goods industry, with a rare blend of global retail, marketing, and P/L experience. This background reflects an accomplished 30-year career at Procter & Gamble (P&G), where he served as Senior Vice President for Fabric and Home Care, Global New Business Development, Gillette, and as Chief Marketing Officer for P&G’s Health and Grooming sectors.  John spent six years leading P&G’s business in Japan, where, under his direction, P&G achieved market share leadership in key categories and delivered sales of $1 billion for the first time in company history.

Leadership Characteristics

After a variety of marketing and general management roles in North America, John led P&G’s Fabric and Home Care division in Japan and South Korea.  Under his purview the division doubled sales, tripled profits, and overtook Kao as market leader in key categories for the first time. He secured more than $100 million in capital improvements, doubled the capacity of Japan-based manufacturing, and led the organization through the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami tragedy in 2011.  In his P&G career, John launched 12 products recognized as IRI pacesetters.  His outstanding business and organizational results garnered him iconic “Legend of Laundry” status; one of only nine people with the designation in the company’s 180-year history.

At Gillette, John assumed leadership of Gillette’s $6B global brand franchise.  Managing regional teams representing more than 150 countries, John held responsibility for all marketing efforts, communication strategies, innovation programs, and sports collaborations.  In his Chief Marketing Officer role, he managed staffing for global brand management, design, and market research for the Healthcare, Oral Care, and Grooming divisions, which represented more than 25% of P&G’s total marketing talent pool.
